The Slavs are Back, and We Want You!

Hello fans, friends, & family! The Class of 2018 is all moved in to Old Campus, classes have yet to begin, and we all know that means Camp Yale is in full swing! We have a concert and extracurricular bazaar coming up this week to advertise the Slavs to a new pool of potential members. Stop by to hear a few songs and sign up for auditions!

Polyphony: 6 Yale Ensembles, 6 Genres, 6 Mind-blowing Performances

The Slavic Chorus will be participating in a new event which is a joint venture with a variety of instrumental and vocal ensembles on campus to give freshmen a taste of all of the musical opportunities on offer (Slavic a capella, French horn ensembles, American folk music, and more!). That concert will take place Monday, August 25 at 10:30 pm, in the Dwight Chapel (67 High Street). Check out the Facebook event. The concert will feature: Yale Klezmer BandCoup de BrassMagevetKrolikTangled Up In Blue, and us, the Yale Slavic Chorus.

Extra-Curricular Bazaar

The Slavs are setting up shop at the extra-curricular bazaar, happening Sunday, August 31st 12-3PM at the Payne Whitney gymnasium (70 Tower Parkway). Stop by our table, ask some questions, sign up to audition!

Slavic Chorus Auditions

Auditions for the Yale Slavic Chorus are short, fun, and unique. We’ll ask you to warm up with us, perform a rhythm exercise with us, experiment with the volume and tone of your voice, and sing a solo song of your choice that shows off your voice and that you feel comfortable singing.  Please feel free to email Sonya Levitova with any questions you might have. Auditions will take place Saturday, August 30th and Monday, September 1st. After the audition you’ll be informed of the next steps in the process and how our callbacks work.  We look forward to meeting with you and singing with you! You can always email our business manager, Sonya Levitova (sonya.levitova@yale.edu), to secure an audition slot if you cannot attend Polyphony or the bazaar.
