The New York City Golden Festival
Jan. 18 & 19, 2013
The Grand Prospect Hall, 263 Prospect Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11215
shaking up Brooklyn again!
Just in time to chase away the winter blues, the Golden Festival celebrates its 28th year on January 18 & 19, 2013. This 2-day Balkan music and dance event held in Brooklyn’s historic Grand Prospect Hall will feature over 60 performance groups and an expected 2500 devotees in attendance, with live bands playing on 4 stages. Entrance to the festival is $35 for Friday and $55 for Saturday. All musicians volunteer their time, and any profits are donated to charitable or educational organizations serving Balkan cultures and communities. Friday opens with a Balkan dance workshop to live music.
Our favorite part of the weekend: Dancing is encouraged; no prior experience is required.
As in years past, the Slavs will be performing on Saturday evening, at 9:30 pm on the Atrium Stage. Check out selections from our performance last year here! We love this event in particular because it brings Slavic Chorus Alumnae from throughout the years together again. Want to see what we mean? Check out these photos from last year’s Golden Fest.
